Stephen Chapin Obituary, Death; – Southington fire officials Wednesday identified the 74-year-old man who died after a house fire early Monday morning.
The man was Stephen Chapin. He was found inside the home. Fire officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation and undetermined as of Wednesday. However, they say they’ve ruled out arson.
Fire officials responded to the report of a fire around 2:28 a.m. on the corner of Route 10 and Chaffee Lane on Monday.
“When crews first arrived, there was fire coming out of the window on the left side of the structure,” Scott Lee, the Southington assistant fire chief, said on scene.
A dog also found in the home was brought to the Southington Animal Control Center. The condition of the dog is unknown.
