Harold R Smith Jr,Amber Aills Obituary, Death; – A head-on collision on State Route 104 resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper injured on Tuesday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:17 a.m. when a trooper, driving south on State Route 104 in a marked cruiser, was struck head-on by a pickup truck.
The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway, leading to the pickup truck catching fire.
At the time of the accident, there were two occupants in the pickup truck. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
The deceased have been identified as Harold R. Smith Jr., 45, from Circleville, and Amber Aills, 29, from Chillicothe.
The trooper involved in the incident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was initially taken to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe before being transferred to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for further treatment.
Numerous agencies provided assistance to the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the scene, including the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Fire Department, Union Township Fire Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
