Matthew Yury Roderick Obituary, Death; – The individual identified as the victim in a murder case in Burke County has been confirmed. The deceased individual is 22-year-old Matthew Yury Roderick. Arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers were 27-year-old Chad Allen MacJarrett and 26-year-old Donaven James Purcell, both of whom have different addresses on N.C. 126 in Morganton. They have each been charged with felony second-degree murder.
As previously reported by WHKY, on Friday (August 22), the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a location on NC 126 concerning a cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased male and commenced a homicide investigation. The police identified two suspects, Chad Allen MacJarrett and Donaven James Purcell, who were later taken into custody.
Both individuals are currently held in the Burke County Jail without bond. They are scheduled to make their initial court appearances today (August 25). The Sheriff’s Office is collaborating closely with the District Attorney’s Office, and the investigation remains ongoing.
