Dandre McIntosh Obituary, Death; – The individual who was shot and killed by the Milwaukee police on August 9 has been identified as 31-year-old Dandre McIntosh.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office disclosed McIntosh’s identity nearly two days after officials from the Milwaukee Police Department reported that he died during an exchange of gunfire with four officers. According to Police Chief Jeffrey Norman, the shooting took place on the 2700 block of North 60th Street during a news conference held on August 9.
The situation began when police were investigating a vehicle linked to several business robberies, which was located at the back of a residence, as stated by Norman. While at the scene, officers encountered an armed individual on the back porch, who has now been identified as McIntosh. Officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the firearm, but he did not comply, leading to an exchange of gunfire between him and the officers, as reported by Norman. It remains uncertain whether McIntosh succumbed to the officers’ gunfire or a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Norman.
The four officers who discharged their weapons have been assigned to administrative duty, which is standard procedure following police shootings. Norman characterized the four officers as follows:
A 46-year-old man with over 21 years of service
A 36-year-old man with over eight years of service
A 30-year-old man with over five years of service
A 29-year-old man with over 11 years of service
All police shootings are subject to investigation by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, which comprises seven police agencies from the Milwaukee area that serve as external investigators for critical incidents, in compliance with state law. The Brookfield Police Department is leading the investigation.
