Marlan Johnson Obituary, Death; – A 31-year-old Fairview man is in custody in Multnomah County for the 2023 shooting death of Marlan Johnson in the Lloyd District neighborhood, the Portland Police Bureau announced on Thursday.
The 24-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound near Northeast 6th Avenue and Northeast Holladayon on the night of June 23, 2023. Despite first responder efforts, he died at the scene.
On April 30, 2024, a Multnomah County grand jury indicted Amel Johnson (No relation to the victim) for Marlan Johnson’s death. However, at that time, Amel Johnson was in a Nevada jail on separate charges, according to PPB.
On Monday, Amel Johnson was extradited to Oregon and lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces charges of second-degree murder, possessing a gun as a felon and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.
