During a court hearing on Wednesday, a prosecutor stated that he had received a death certificate for 67-year-old Robert Bearclaw, who had been in custody since his arrest four years prior. Consequently, the case was dismissed.

On the evening of June 10, 2021, Bearclaw operated a pickup that collided with two vehicles and a pedestrian, as indicated by court documents.
Bearclaw informed the police that a group of individuals had stolen from him, and he believed he had seen them that night. He mentioned that he experiences paranoia when using methamphetamine and recounted ramming the other vehicles and striking the pedestrian.
The pickup first collided with a vehicle in the 4200 block of Jewett Avenue, injuring two occupants, before hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of Q and West Columbus streets, according to police reports. The pedestrian sustained what the police characterized as minor to moderate injuries.
After leaving the scene of those incidents, the pickup crashed head-on into another vehicle in the 3900 block of Q Street, as reported by the police.
The driver of that vehicle, Everardo Perez, 26, was later declared dead at Kern Medical, according to police. A female passenger in that vehicle sustained minor injuries.
