Lind Edwards Obituary, Death;- A 75-year-old woman was shot and killed on Tuesday while gathering aluminum cans at an apartment complex in south Houston, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
Amber McNulty, aged 43, informed the police that she discharged her weapon through an apartment door because she felt threatened and was attempting to defend herself.
McNulty, 43, has been arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon. Although she has not been charged with murder or assault in relation to the shooting, she is regarded as the sole suspect, according to the police department. Court documents reveal that McNulty has a history of mental health issues and prior arrests for violent crimes.
The victim, identified in court documents as Lind Edwards, was shot multiple times and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Edwards was recognized for her habit of collecting aluminum cans from the complex, and police stated that a resident had placed cans on a porch for her prior to the incident. McNulty resided in the same apartment as the individual who had set out the cans, according to police reports.
Upon seeing Edwards approach the apartment, McNulty put on a ballistic vest and armed herself with a firearm, as stated by the police. She subsequently opened fire through the door.
Additional charges are forthcoming, according to the police.
