Seena Chacko Arrested; – A woman has sadly lost her life following a devastating collision while riding her bicycle in Cheshire. The incident occurred on Wilmslow Road in Handforth on Saturday, September 14. According to Cheshire Police, a blue Citroen C4 Grand Picasso was traveling along the road when it struck the cyclist.
The 62-year-old cyclist was thrown from her bike and landed on the roadside. Bystanders provided her with first aid until paramedics arrived. It was later reported that she was also struck by another vehicle. Seena Chacko, of Tabley Road, Handforth, had previously pleaded guilty to causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
During a hearing at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, she also acknowledged failing to stop after the accident, as well as driving without a license and insurance. It remains unclear whether the charges have been updated following the victim’s death.
Chacko is scheduled to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on October 21. Investigating officer Sgt. Russ Sime remarked, “This was a horrific incident and shocking for those who witnessed it. I would like to express gratitude to those who stopped to assist and to those who rendered first aid to the cyclist while waiting for paramedics. Our thoughts are with the cyclist’s family during this incredibly difficult time.”
The cyclist was transported to the hospital in critical condition but tragically passed away on Tuesday morning, September 17, three days after the incident, as confirmed by Cheshire Police in a recent update. The police previously identified the driver of the Citroen as 42-year-old Seena Chacko, who reportedly continued driving with the bicycle lodged beneath her vehicle after the collision.
