Chyler Paton Obituary, Death;- Authorities have identified a recent high school graduate as the victim of a fatal shooting in Torrance. Officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a report of gunfire in the 23000 block of Huber Avenue, situated near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Walnut Streets.
Upon their arrival, officers found shell casings and a victim who was unresponsive. Paramedics made attempts to save the victim’s life; however, he was declared dead at the scene.
Later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 17-year-old Chyler Paton, with the cause of death attributed to a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators indicated that the shooting occurred during a pool party following the graduation ceremony. Chyler was scheduled to enroll at California State University, Dominguez Hills, in the upcoming fall semester.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this tragic shooting.
On Wednesday, the Culver City Police Department conducted a press conference to address Paton’s death and another incident that has affected the Culver City High community. On the evening of Tuesday, June 24, a vigil was organized on the school’s football field to honor Chyler.
Between 200 and 300 attendees were present, and at one point, officials reported that a fight ensued, resulting in shots being fired near the campus. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A GoFundMe campaign has been established for Paton’s family.
