Maria Filos Obituary, Death; – A man was apprehended following an incident on Sunday night in the New Market area, where he allegedly struck a woman with his vehicle.
As reported by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at Davis Road and discovered a woman suffering from critical injuries that were “consistent with being struck by a vehicle.”
The woman was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead due to her injuries. Investigators found that the incident originated from a domestic dispute between a husband and wife while they were traveling in a vehicle.
It was established that the woman, identified as 31-year-old Maria Filos, was driving when she stopped on the shoulder of the road during the argument. Officials indicated that the altercation intensified outside the vehicle when 45-year-old Garland Lockwood allegedly seized control of the vehicle and struck the victim.
Lockwood has been arrested and charged with Murder- Domestic Violence. He is currently being held without bond at the Madison County Jail.
