Vance Boelter Arrested; – Vance Boelter, the individual suspected of murdering Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) and her spouse, Mark, voluntarily resigned from his position at a funeral home earlier this year, as stated by his previous employer.
“We wish to express our thoughts and condolences to the families of Rep. Hortman and Sen. Hoffman. This is tragic news for everyone involved. Regarding Vance Boelter, he was employed by our company from August 28, 2023, until he voluntarily departed on February 20, 2025,” remarked the owner of Metro First Call, a funeral home located in Savage.
Authorities report that Boelter, disguised as a police officer, arrived at the Hoffman residence in Champlin around 2 a.m. in what appeared to be a police vehicle. According to Brooklyn Park Police Chief Bruley, officers discovered a manifesto in the suspect’s abandoned vehicle that listed several lawmakers and other officials. Those mentioned in the document have been notified and provided with security measures.
The manhunt includes hundreds of officers from the Brooklyn Park Police, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the FBI, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Patrol.
