Bryan Hunt Obituary, Death; – The medical examiner has identified one of the men who died in a suspected murder-suicide in Cleveland Wednesday afternoon. 66-year-old Bryan Hunt was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a vehicle in the parking lot of Groth Memorial & Scenic Overlook.
Cleveland police believe Hunt shot his 68-year-old neighbor on Munn Road around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, drove about a mile and a half and then took his own life. Thursday, a small memorial for the victim sprung up in the yard. According to long-time West Park resident, Russell Digney, Hunt had run-ins with police and other people in the neighborhood.
Digney told us, “He’d been in and out of different jails, police stations and stuff like that. He’s had a track record, and they know it.” Digney and other neighbors say the victim feared what might happen someday. “Unfortunately, it came to what he feared all along living next door to him. This guy shouldn’t have been around to do this,” Digney said.
Another long-time friend and neighbor described what he knew about the incident. Vic Evin told us, “He (the victim) was out mowing his lawn and this neighbor has a history of mental problems, didn’t like him mowing his lawn and drove by and shot him and killed him.” “I’m in shock,” Digney said as he choked up with tears in his eyes, “I mean I still can’t believe it. Just talking to you I feel like I could break down, break down again. It’s just, it’s unreal.”
Mr. Evin says he finds comfort in the fact that the 68-year-old murder victim was a man of faith. “It’s a tremendous loss”, he told Fox 8’s Suzanne Stratford, adding, “The only thing I can take comfort in is he was a devout Christian.”
