Vishnu Irigireddy,Tim Nguyen Obituary, Death; – The Okanogan County Coroner has confirmed the identities of three climbers from King County who tragically lost their lives in a climbing accident in the North Cascades over the weekend.
The deceased climbers have been identified as Vishnu Irigireddy, 48, and Tim Nguyen, 63, both from Renton, along with Oleksander Martynenko, 36, from Bellevue. Additionally, the surviving climber has been identified as 38-year-old Anton Tselykh from Seattle. The incident occurred near North Early Winters Spire off State Route 20, approximately 16 miles west of Mazama, around 11:30 a.m. on May 11.
Responders from the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office and Okanogan County Search and Rescue volunteers discovered that the four climbers had fallen while descending a steep gully. The sheriff’s office reported that three climbers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth managed to escape and call for assistance. The Snohomish County Helicopter Rescue Team was involved in recovering the bodies from the challenging mountainous terrain.
According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, the preliminary cause of the accident is believed to be an anchor failure during rappelling, although the investigation remains ongoing.
