Kelvin Mitchell Obituary, Death; – Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident in the Bronx over the weekend, which resulted in the death of a father of three. The incident occurred outside a bodega shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of East 169th Street and Webster Avenue.
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Kelvin Mitchell, was reportedly standing in the mid-block crosswalk on Webster Avenue when he was struck by a black Mercedes Benz heading southbound. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver fled the scene. On Monday, Mitchell’s grieving mother shared her account of the incident, which was captured on surveillance footage. ‘
That car deliberately sped straight through, did not stop, hit my son, lifted him into the air, and dragged him half a block; they killed my son,’ Nancy Aguilar stated. Candles and messages of condolence were placed outside Mitchell’s home on Monday. His sister, Justina Lorrious, described him as a dedicated father who worked in construction and made sweatsuits.
‘He was an exceptional dad; all his children adored him. He has a 19-year-old son, a 23-year-old daughter, and a 24-year-old daughter who is currently living down south. He was very close to all of them, and we will miss him dearly,’ Lorrious expressed. Aguilar has faced immense sorrow before, having lost three of her four children.
