Patricia Fajardro De Cardona Obituary, Death;- A 17-year-old is facing charges of vehicular homicide following a fatal crash on Valentine’s Day in Pembroke Pines, as announced by police on Thursday. According to the Pembroke Pines police, Albert Oswaldo Yanez Quintana, from Sunrise, was demonstrating the speed of his new Dodge Charger to friends shortly after 6:30 p.m. on February 14 when he collided with another vehicle on Dykes Road near Northwest 12th Street.

An arrest report indicates that two elderly individuals were in the Ford Fusion attempting to make a left turn when the Charger struck their sedan, splitting it in half. One of the victims, identified as Patricia Fajardro De Cardona, was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead. The report also mentions that three of Yanez Quintana’s friends were passengers in the Dodge at the time of the incident.

One friend informed the authorities that Yanez Quintana was driving recklessly, stating he “does not know how to drive” and should be “locked up.” The friend further claimed that Yanez Quintana was traveling at a speed of “70 to 80 mph,” significantly exceeding the 45 mph speed limit on Dykes Road.

Investigators concluded that had Yanez Quintana adhered to the speed limit, the victims would have had nearly three additional seconds to navigate the intersection, potentially preventing the collision. In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, Yanez Quintana is also charged with reckless driving. His mugshot was not available as of Thursday evening.
