Janaha Smith Obituary, Death; – Fayetteville Police have apprehended a suspect following a shooting that resulted in the death of a woman. The event occurred shortly after 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the 2800 block of Gillespie Street.
The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Janaha Smith, a resident of Fayetteville, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Shyheem McCall, 24, also from Fayetteville, was taken into custody at the location and subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, Smith and McCall were acquainted, indicating that this was not an incident of random violence. McCall is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without the possibility of bond.
