Luis Angel Arreguin,Ivan Arreguin Grimaldo Obituary, Death; – The two men who were fatally shot at Foothills Mall over the weekend have been named.

The incident took place around 5 p.m. on Saturday, occurring on a sidewalk situated between the parking lot and a mall building. Upon arrival, Fort Collins police officers found two male victims, who were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

On Tuesday, the Larimer County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identities of the victims as 27-year-old Luis Angel Arreguin from Westminster and 37-year-old Ivan Arreguin Grimaldo from Greeley. The coroner’s office determined that both men died from homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Grimaldo had a prior criminal record, which included an incident where he shot at a fellow gang member while driving alongside him on U.S. Highway 34, as reported by the Greeley Tribune. He received a 12-year prison sentence in January 2018, according to online court documents.

At the time of the shooting at Foothills Mall, Grimaldo was on parole for this case and two others, as indicated by the Colorado Department of Corrections website.

Additionally, Grimaldo had a criminal history in Oregon, with convictions for theft, fraud, and burglary. His most recent conviction was for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine in 2014, according to court records.

Arreguin also had an extensive criminal background. In Colorado, he faced convictions for offenses such as trespassing, theft, vehicular eluding, possession of a weapon, and motor vehicle theft. He was likewise on parole.

A GoFundMe campaign established for the families of Grimaldo and Arreguin has revealed that the two were brothers. On Sunday, police apprehended a juvenile male suspect in connection with the shooting. Due to the suspect’s age, his identity has not been disclosed.

Authorities believe the shooting may be gang-related and are deliberately withholding the names of the gangs involved to avoid giving them notoriety, as stated in a news release. Fort Collins police officer and spokesperson Brandon Barnes informed the Coloradoan that there is currently no information suggesting they are.
