James Keith Ledford Obituary, Death; – A pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40 in Haywood County on April 3, as reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The Highway Patrol received notification of the incident at 6:29 a.m. on that day. The victim was identified as 52-year-old James Keith Ledford. According to Sgt. Chris Scerri of the Highway Patrol, Ledford was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident occurred at the 32-mile marker of I-40 East, specifically on the bridge over Beaverdam Road,” Scerri informed News 13. He noted that the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the right lane while Ledford was attempting to cross the bridge.
“This section of the interstate has minimal to no shoulders,” Scerri added. The driver remained at the scene until authorities arrived. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to Scerri.
