Cheryl Witter Obituary, Death; – Officials have reported that a woman who sustained severe injuries in a train accident in Rincon last week has passed away. On Monday, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of 45-year-old Cheryl Witter from Savannah, who succumbed to her injuries.
Witter was among three individuals injured on February 17 when, according to authorities, she did not yield to a slow-moving train on McCall Road, close to Blandford Elementary School in Rincon.
She was airlifted to the hospital, while the other two occupants of her vehicle suffered only minor injuries. The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m., resulting in the road being closed for over an hour.
