Genesys Rice Obituary, Death; – A man from Greenville, who admitted to the murder of a woman in her residence, is currently contesting his conviction and sentence.
Akevius Lindsey, aged 24, entered a guilty plea for charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime following the discovery of 18-year-old Genesys Rice, who was fatally shot at Jasmine Cove Apartments in Simpsonville in 2023. Additionally, cell phone records confirmed Lindsey’s presence at the crime scene, and he had previously made remarks to the victim’s family that suggested his culpability.
The court imposed a sentence of 50 years of imprisonment on Lindsey. On February 20, 2025, Lindsey’s legal team submitted an appeal. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
