Sheila Nava Obituary, Death; – A woman who lost her life in a rollover accident last week in Las Cruces has been named, according to a press release from the Las Cruces Police Department.
Authorities report that Sheila Nava, 24, of Las Cruces, died in the rollover incident that took place on Thursday afternoon, February 13, at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street.
Nava was heading south on Hermosa Street in an SUV when her vehicle was struck by another car traveling west on Griggs Avenue. Traffic investigators suspect that Nava failed to stop at a stop sign prior to the collision, as indicated by police.
Additionally, investigators found that Nava was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV during the rollover. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver of the other vehicle sustained no serious injuries, and authorities do not anticipate any charges or traffic citations being issued.
